"Teatro in times of plague"
3100 cases, 151 deaths. 87 cases in Progreso.
This morning teatro la fragua was back at work. Luis and Edy organized a rehearsal of The Lorax by Dr. Seuss as a radio-teatro piece. I didn’t go; they took care of it all. Luis says the rehearsal went quite well. We’re thinking in terms of finding a radio way to do stories we have already developed.
Luis ordered a pizza to celebrate.
In the afternoon Luis and Edy distributed another round of food bags. This one contained:
7 lbs of rice,7 lbs of frijoles,5 lbs of sugar,10 lbs of corn flour,2 lbs of coffee,1 lb of salt,2 kilos of lard, 4 loaves of bread.

3204 cases, 156 deaths.
The powers-that-be (I still haven’t figured out who they are) have put forward a re-opening plan in three geographical areas. The plan would take three months: starting 1 June in the least affected zones, 1 July in the middle zones and 1 agosto in the most affected zones. I haven’t seen a chart, but I presume our area is in the most heavily hit third, while Tegucigalpa would be the middle group. But I haven’t seen that specifically stated anywhere.
It is unclear to me where we are going. The government plunder is intense; huge sums of money are disappearing with nothing to show for it. And although the death toll has stayed relatively low, the total caseload is clearly on the upswing still.

3477 cases, 167 deaths.
The word is that the centro de capacitaciónn of the town of Yoro has been turned into an orgy. That is where they have in observation 35 police officers from the town, who were exposed by their cook.
I finished off Keep the Aspadista Flying of Orwell. I liked it more the more I got into it.
We did Bergman’s Fanny and Alexander last night. I had never seen it. What a movie.

3743 cases, 174 deaths.
They’ve announced that we will continue on the same schedule, only those with the proper last digit can go out each day. I have the luck that I have passport as well as id, so I can go out Monday (number 6) and Thursday (number 9).
I started on a collection of short stories by Baldwin, Going to Meet the Man.
Monday, May 25, 2020
3950 cases, 180 deaths.
I watched the National Theatre of England production of A Streetcar Named Desire last night, with Gillian Anderson as Blanche. They are leaving it up a couple more days, and I highly recommend it. I’m so used to the movie; it’s almost a new show to go back to the original script.
I went out for a short trip to a pulpería this afternoon. I didn’t go downtown. There was very little traffic. It was very hot. It’s been raining in Tegucigalpa. Last night about 9:00 the wind blew and made like it was going to rain, but nothing.
Keep safe and wash your hands.
