Paperwork continues on the containers of the two hospitals.

Today was my digit and I went to the office, then to the bank, then back to the office. We remain in the new normal. One curious happening: the taxis are normally white with yellow trim. Many have painted over the yellow and end up pure white – and function as clandestine taxis.

Tony (Tony James Díaz, actor) has taken to writing a diaty of rehearsals. The following is the first installment. (English translation follows).

“Los motivos del lobo”

Ayer lunes 13 de julio del 2020 antes de las 8:00 a.m. ya tenían seleccionadas once personas para realizar la prueba del covid en el centro de capacitación La Fragua. Hoy martes 14 de julio había un grupo menos de veinte personas esperando ser atendidos para dicho procedimiento, eran las 8:30 a. m. Una mala información por parte de la municipalidad provocó una confusión en las habitantes de El Progreso Yoro, ya que se aseguró en las redes sociales de las autoridades municipales que en el Teatro La Fragua se iba a llevar a cabo el triaje de atención a pacientes con sintomatología covid. Hace unos meses se filtró una noticia parecida que se hizo viral en el pueblo y en las notas de voz del whatsapp decían que: “para qué iban a llevar a la gente donde esos payasos, es en los hospitales donde deben estar los enfermos”. Lo de “payasos” disgustó mucho al inicio a los artistas, pero después esa mofa se convirtió en un gaje del oficio. El Centro de Salud Carlos B. Gonzales de El Progreso está en construcción y no por parte del gobierno, es por eso que se trasladó al equipo médico a la par del Teatro La Fragua, cuyo nombre del lugar es el mismo pero instituciones con funciones distintas. Recién comenzadas las operaciones del cómputo en el centro de capacitación, mucha gente llamaba a los actores preguntando si podían facilitar el tratamiento maíz, otros pedían el favor de apartar un lugar para ser atendidos de inmediato sin esperar tanto tiempo. A estas alturas ya está bien claro cuál es el lugar donde deben acudir las personas con síntomas de covid. Con mucha seguridad se puede afirmar sin temor a equivocarse que un 80% de las personas que han visitado esa zona de triaje no conocía el teatro, sea por error que hayan llegado o por emergencia, recordarán nuestro teatro cuando termine la pandemia. Al mismo tiempo que el jardinero y guachimán del teatro Israel Pascual limpiaba el predio, los actores aseaban el escenario para comenzar a trabajar. A las 9:00 a.m. inició la lectura del poema “Los motivos del lobo” de Rubén Darío. Muchas veces el actor Tony Díaz ha declamado este clásico de la literatura universal y sus compañeros lo han observado, pero esta mañana se dieron cuenta que la fragua tiene su adaptación, este trabajo se presentó en los años 90 en Estados Unidos y España, y la última vez fue hace doce años. Esta versión es la recreación de una aldea hondureña que sirve de escenario para Francisco de Asís y el lobo de Gubbio. Edilberto en la música, Edy Barahona en la dirección, Tony James “el lobo de Gubbio”, José Ramón “chito” Inestroza el hermano Francisco de Asís, Gerardo Ochoa y María José (majo) narradores. Ésa es la tarea. Se tomó un descanso de diez minutos a las 10:30 a.m. luego comenzó la clase de música, que consistía en practicar una ranchera para establecer la particularidad del pueblo y después una pieza renacentista creada por Richard Clawson s.j. para embellecer el Padre Nuestro que al final del poema declama Francisco de Asís llorando, derrotado ante un lobo de Gubbio que rechaza volver a hacer un pacto con los hombres. Se retomó el ensayo media hora antes del almuerzo. A las 12:00 p.m. cada quien disfrutó de sus alimentos preparados en casa, Lizeth Caballero la directora de la Escuela de Ballet la Fragua compartió unas piezas de pollo con los actores. Después de una hora de descanso continuó el ensayo. Cuarenta minutos después sorprendió la llegada de Nery Hernández, este actor había abandonado el proyecto ya que estaba dando atención médica a su mamá, se incorporó inmediatamente como narrador. En esta adaptación aparecen en el guión hipocorísticos como: Chito, Rigo, Dago, Moncho y dos nombres: Guillermo y Oscar, todos ellos actores legendarios de este patrimonio que es Teatro La Fragua. Antes de terminar la jornada se impartió otra clase de música y quedó pendiente trabajar el poema en secciones, éste es el compromiso para mañana. El día de trabajo finalizó a las 3:30 p.m. y cada quien se fue para su casa, majo y Tony aprovecharon el jalón con Edy en el busito, chito y Edilberto en sus motos, Gerardo y Nery en bicicleta.

The wolf’s motives

Yesterday, Monday, July 13, 2020, before 8:00 a.m. they had already selected eleven people to perform the covid test at the La Fragua training center. Today, Tuesday July 14th, there was a group of less than twenty people waiting to be attended to for the procedure. It was 8:30 a.m. Poor information from the municipality caused confusion among the inhabitants of El Progreso Yoro, as they were assured on the social networks of the municipal authorities that the triage for patients with covid symptoms would be carried out at the La Fragua Theatre. A few months ago a similar news item was leaked and went viral in the town and in the voice notes of the whatsapp they said: "why would they take people to those clowns, it's in hospitals where the sick should be". The "clowns" thing really upset the artists at first, but later that mockery became an occupational hazard. The Carlos B. González Health Center de El Progreso is under construction and not by the government, which is why the medical team was moved to the same location as the Teatro La Fragua, whose name is the same but the institutions have different functions. When the computer operations at the training center began, many people called the actors asking if they could facilitate the MAIZ treatment, others asked for the favor of setting aside a place to be attended to immediately without waiting so long. By now it is clear where people with covid symptoms should go. It is safe to say that 80% of the people who have visited this triage area did not know about the theatre, either by mistake or emergency, and will remember our theatre when the pandemic is over. At the same time as the gardener and watchman of the teatro, Israel Paschal, cleaned up the premises, the actors cleaned up the stage to start work. At 9:00 a.m., the reading of the poem "Los motivos del lobo" by Rubén Darío began. Many times the actor Tony Díaz has declaimed this classic of universal literature and his companions have observed it, but this morning they realized that la fragua has its adaptation. This work was presented in the 90's in the United States and Spain, and the last time was twelve years ago. In this adaptation, hypochoretic characters appear in the script such as: Chito, Rigo, Dago, Moncho and two names: Guillermo and Oscar, all of them legendary actors of this heritage that is Teatro La Fragua. Before the end of the day another music class was given and the poem was left to work in sections, this is the commitment for tomorrow. The day's work ended at 3:30 p.m. and everyone went home. Majo and Tony took advantage of the ride with Edy on the bus, Chito and Edilberto on their motos, Gerardo and Nery on their bicycles.

Padre Nuestro

“The sound of silence” de Simon & Garfunkel. ¿Tal vez esta canción de ese dúo estadounidense se nos hace conocida? Si. Pues hay una versión tradicional del Padre Nuestro y que forma parte del misal y del cancionero católico. Hoy miércoles 15 de julio inició el día de trabajo en Teatro La Fragua con una clase de música y entonando esta versión, Edy Barahona director artístico decidió utilizar este canto y para más adelante la creación compleja de Richard Clawson s. j. Gerardo Ochoa y Nery Misael se encargaron de asear el escenario. A las 10:30 se tomó un pequeño receso, luego siguió la limpieza de dicción en la declamación y unas adaptaciones para darle más fuerza dramática a los personajes de la aldea, todo ello por estar descontentos y temerosos del lobo de Gubbio. Treinta minutos antes del mediodía mientras el director de música Edilberto Gonzáles afinaba con los actores “Cotton Fields” de la banda Creedence Clearwater Revival pero la versión en español, en el Centro de Capacitación La Fragua parecía que limpiaban el predio debido a que había mucho zancudo y esto perjudicaba a los pacientes de covid. Este día hubo mucha asistencia en esa zona de triaje, más de cincuenta personas hasta ese momento. Maktub. Ese es el nombre de un negocio emprendedor que vende pizzas artesanales en El Progreso y que los actores disfrutaron en el almuerzo. La palabra es muy popular y se rastrea del árabe, su significado es un antónimo de lo azaroso, el destino que ya está escrito. Antes de terminar el descanso José Ramón “Chito” Inestroza y Edilberto tuvieron una feroz batalla con los zancudos mientras recogían los nances que produce uno de los arboles fructíferos del teatro. A la 1:00 p.m. continuó la clase de música, esta vez adornando el nuevo hogar del lobo de Gubbio: el convento y la aldea con la pieza instrumental “Pescador de hombres”. El ensayo terminó a las 3:00 p.m. Y se planificó la grabación del poema mañana jueves 16 de julio. Con sugerencias para mejorar el trabajo los actores antes de despedirse fueron por unas hojas de eucalipto y guayabo, ya que están dentro de la receta para contrarrestar el covid. Luego un viento fuerte comenzó a amenazar y todos los actores se apresuraron a tomar sus vehículos porque en cuestión de minutos aparecería la lluvia.

Our Father

"The sound of silence" by Simon & Garfunkel. Maybe this song by that American duo is familiar to us? Yes. Well, there's a traditional version of the Lord's Prayer that's part of the missal and the Catholic songbook. Today, Wednesday July 15, began the day of work at Teatro La Fragua with a music class and singing this version, Edy Barahona artistic director decided to use this song now and later the complex creation of Richard Clawson s. j. Gerardo Ochoa and Nery Misael were in charge of cleaning the stage. At 10:30 a.m. a short break was taken, followed by the cleaning of diction in the declamation and some adaptations to give more dramatic force to the characters of the village, all because they were dissatisfied and afraid of the wolf of Gubbio. Thirty minutes before noon while the music director Edilberto Gonzáles tuned up with the actors "Cotton Fields" from the Creedence Clearwater Revival band but the Spanish version, at the La Fragua Training Center it seemed that they were cleaning up the grounds because there was a lot of mosquitoes and this was hurting the covid patients. This day there was a lot of attendance in that triage area, more than fifty people so far. Maktub. That's the name of an entrepreneurial business that sells homemade pizzas in El Progreso and that the actors enjoyed at lunch. The word is very popular and is traced back to Arabic, its meaning is an antonym for randomness, the fate that is already written. Before the end of the break José Ramón "Chito" Inestroza and Edilberto had a fierce battle with the mosquitoes while they collected the nances produced by one of the fruit trees of the theater. At 1:00 p.m. the music class continued, this time adorning the new home of the wolf of Gubbio: the convent and the village, with the instrumental piece "Pescador de hombres". Rehearsal ended at 3:00 p.m. and the recording of the poem was planned for tomorrow, Thursday, July 16th. With suggestions to improve the work the actors before saying goodbye went for some eucalyptus and guava leaves, since they are within the recipe to counteract the covid. Then a strong wind began to threaten and all the actors rushed to take their vehicles because in a matter of minutes the rain would appear.

No sign of the Garifuna kidnapees. 

Sunday, July 26, 2020 - 38,438 cases, 1,098 deaths. 

Both La Prensa and Tiempo’s web page carry an article that they found stuff pertaining to two of the Garifuna disappeared in a hacienda in San Pedro Sula. Neither article explains anything of how they found the stuff (it seems to be a couple of plastic bags with miscellaneous content), or who found it.  

Amnesty International has sent a formal letter to the government asking why they are not investigating the kidnapping. 

All the containers have passed muster; there are 39 for Tegucigalpa and 39 for San Pedro Sula. They will begin to retire the containers tomorrow, putting August 15 as the target date for the one in San Pedro Sula to be up and running. 

 Tropical Storm Gonzalo has fizzled out and doesn’t pose any danger.
